Smithsonian Exhibits African American’s Contribution to Urban Development

The modern version of gentrification discusses the displacement of low-income African Americans. However, evidence show that many have the potential and several are actually thriving in middle to upper class status. Studies have shown that African descendants have developed and contributed wealth to communities in several parts of the country. Most importantly, research show how African descendants are increasingly becoming educated and entering in successful in careers.

Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture exhibits should be an inspiration for African Americans to build and protect their wealth during the expansion of gentrification. Wealth gap between Black Americans and their White counterpart is an undisputable issue. Not sure how much work it will take for wealth gap to become equal, but some work has to be done to narrow the inequality.
